Baby J is One: Celebration & People

This is the birthday boy! He is a year old now. I posted this write up in my status in facebook on his exact birthday.
--------------------
He didn't give me morning sickness during pregnancy, made my skin glows and hair so voluminousness. He is a good baby since I carried him, only back pain because of my weak back. This time a year ago, my baby just came out to the world smelling fresh. We are happy parents until today though there are times whining and fussiness are all over him, but it's normal for a baby who is as active as him. He has been crawling, walking with support and without support since becomes mobile. He laughed when daddy played with him. He looks for mommy when he is sleepy and hungry. He remembers where he hid his toys and sit there hours to retrieve them although they fell into unreachable space. He smiles at daddy when daddy flash the camera at him. He has 8 white shinning teeth that can eat full solid food. There are many more fond memories of his little actions and baby mischievousness and we hope for many years to come. I hope he still let me kiss him when he grew up. Mommy and Daddy love you very much. Happy 1st Birthday to our little man!

--------------------

Baby J mingled around. We invited 11 people and it brings to total of 23 adults and 7 babies/kids.The guests came with spouse and I counted myself, my hubby and in laws.. That's how the number came up to 23. The house was very crowded. I would like to invite more but it's impossible to fit them in our tiny home.

I like this picture because it shows the decoration I put :)

Tze Yee took the camera and snap picture of the Wong's family. However he meant to show himself in the pic because we can see his reflection in the mirror. Look, there is FF and HH too !

Baby J was so excited when daddy sang birthday song for him!

Another excited baby J photo. He loved it when we put him in the paper bag for a photo. Thanks to everyone who came and gave baby J presents and angpow! The presents are lovely and the money can be put to good use for baby J.

Baby J is One : Food

I am still in post party mood. We had baby J birthday celebration on weekend. This is the table setup where we put the birthday "cake" and cake cutting happened. I printed some colourful UP posters and sticked them on a brown hay string as decoration flags at the table. There's the ballon tied together with colourful metallic ribbons above the heads and also "JASPER IS 1" birthday banner.

Here's the food. We didn't manage to capture all the food because some of them were taken up very quickly and there is only one photographer whom are also my husband. So he was very busy and didn't have time to photograph everything. I am thankful that I have a talented husband that can take nice photos like this.

I made this marshmallow sticks covered in chocolate and dipped into sprinkles. It's not a big hit because of the sweetness but I like it as it's really pretty.

I also prepared this cheese plate. I assembled the blueberry, cheddar and cheese cracker together. It's awesome combination however being in Asian country, I don't think everyone will think this is awesome as I think it is.

We also got a french vanilla mille crepe and I prepared a jug of refreshing pomegranate & lemon juice.

This is our birthday "cake" . I showed my idea to our patissier and want her to bake 25 mini cupcakes with colourful frosting as the ballons while I provide a 3D house for her to stick it at the end and attach some ribbons to the chimney of the house. It looks perfect with the royal icing on the random vanilla and chocolate cupckes. The patissier is my good friend and her shop is going to open soon in Nagore Road . The shop name is Mon Delice Patisserie .

I ordered a few other stuff from here like the mini quiche with mushroom and bacon fillings however no photo on the quiche. Here's another dessert which is made especially for kids and babies because it's made from all natural ingredients. Even the vanilla bean is imported from Madagascar. This is panna cotta with raspberry gelee.

Here's the highlight of the day! This is called croquembouche, a tower of  40 cream puffs with random mango/chocolate filling. Yummy

Till then..

My best friend wedding in Alor Setar

I am friend with Her Hau for about 10 years now. I have some best friends at home whom I knew for about 15 years or more but Her Hau is the closest to me geography wise because we both went to same university, been housemates, roommate and working in the same department. Her wedding was held last weekend in her hometown Alor Setar. I went to Alor Setar with her before 4 years ago and stayed a night at her home. I am not sure if her mom still remember me but I do recognise their faces.

It is funny that Tze Yee was our course senior but Her Hau had never seen him before in university and talking about how they get together, the story is not too long or short. It is a clinging super love. lol. Tze Yee sang a song dedicated to his wife and gave some touching speech that night. What a lovely wedding.. everything was perfect.

To Mr & brand new Mrs Sim
Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth for the other. Now there is no more loneliness, for each of you will be companion for the other. Now you are two persons, but there is only one... life before you. Go now to your dwelling place to begin the days of your life together. May your days together be good and long upon the earth.

Of course, must have my picture as well!

Lastly this is one of the nice picture Weeliem and I have ever took together. It was so hard to get him to pose for a picture where he was reluctant maybe because I am not qualified. But now after I forced and persuaded him, it is easier ;P. Love you Mr Chong!

Halloween @ Chicago Ribs House

Hello all! I feel like ages since I last wrote here. The just past weekend was Halloween. We did not celebrate any but only realizing that when we went for dinner at Chicago Ribs House for my birthday treat. There were many people with costumes walking around the Gurney place and live performers on stage singing lady gaga's, justin bieber's Baby, Shakira's and many other songs.

It was full house and we were lucky to still get a seat although weeliem phoned to reserve seats for 2 and they didn't jot that down. I didn't want to take photos of the waitress because their makeup and costumes looks a bit flabby and not pretty. :P

Before this I heard from friends and blogs that the waiting time for food is very long but we got ours in less than 15 minutes. So we ordered starters, fried mushroom. It was not nice at all but the dipping sauce is good.

Fried mushroom

I ordered Chicago pork rib and Weeliem picked beef ribs and they were superb.

We were so full after dining and I wished I didn't order the starter. hehe.

xiao wei & leo big day

In January, Xiao Wei and Leonard tied the knot. She is not only my work buddy, she is my chatting friend who I can say anything to, she is also a close friend to me at work. I really feel sad that she left the company. Anyway, in the other hand, I am happy that she took the brave step and went back to study.

The lovely wedding was held in Flamingo hotel, Tanjung Bungah. The place looked wonderful that night, what can you say more, a pool side wedding. The bride is fabulous as ever.

This is the solemnization part that I missed because I was in charged of the receptionist that evening. Looking at the photo below, I saw her mom disbelief look that Leonard really kissed the bride so hard.

A nice photo of me taken with WL by the official photographer.

I didn't send this photo below to herhau because the actual photo is really blur. It looks good below because I resize it smaller.

With colleagues; current and ex.

Despite the humid and hot weather that night, we had fun. This is the last photo taken with the happy couple before we left.

Steamboat at friend's place

Apparently everyone is getting married and have a house of their own. This time we went to a friend's place for a little house warming. Ping is a good friend of mine from the university. Both of them are my coursemates and they are now married :)

She prepared a lot of ingredients for the steamboat dinner held at her home. Fishballs, squid balls, taiwanese sausages, abalone mushrooms, golden mushrooms, chicken, fish, vege, seafood taufu and others were wrapped so nicely, like the one got ready prepared from supermarket.

We played some games from wii nintendos. That's herhau doing her yoga pose. We left at 12am.

Kek Lok Si 2009

This was my fourth yee sang in this ox year and I still not love it. The taste is funny and not to my liking. :P Though I wish that when I scooped and tossed the ingredients high in the air, the greater is my luck, wisdom and fortune all year long.

My colleagues and I made a visit to Soek Junn's house in AirItam and had a short hike up the hill to the legendary Kek Lok Si beautifully lighted to welcome and celebrate Chinese New Year. We had scrumptious dinner before the hike, luckily. Everywhere is decorated by colourful lights and bulbs mainly of orange, yellow and red colours. The pagoda is standing up strong and forever in the heart of Penangnite.

All of us had good times camwhoring around the place. We took some photos and they are a few nice ones.

The temple was basically closed already at time we reached there. But the lights were on until about 11pm. They started turning off the lights little by little at 10.30pm and we walked back down to the Soek Junn place.
We spent a little more time in her house experimenting our luck in small card sessions. End of day.

Ai Chee's wedding

Last weekend was Ai Chee's wedding. She was my secondary school mate, university mate and we work in the same company too. I actually missed Hsiao Ping wedding because my schedule did not permit me to attend both in the same weekend. Conglatulation to the two couples.

I was late for about 10 minutes in reaching Ai Chee's house in the morning because I can't able to get up that early. I wasn't feeling well for few days already. Not forgetting that I got lost in my own hometown. I was driving around her house for 15 minutes because I can't remember which road leads to her house! What a shame...

This is the puzzle that Pei Li initiated and designed as a part of our wedding gift to Ai Chee. We used it to test the capability of the groom to complete the puzzle of his bride's face before the games.

Everyone obeyed the jimui colour theme. White. We all except huey shyan went to the bridegroom home in Damansara later on. We had a chatty afternoon, like a gathering of the old school buddies. We went to girl only school. :)

In the same evening later, all of us, some with partners attended her wedding's reception at Subang Oversea restaurant. I wore the same dress to PDC night on last week. Everyone looked so gracious in beautiful dresses with pinch of make up.

Some wished the night never ends so we went over for liquor at Republic, Sunway Pyramid after the dinner. See the red tomatoes faces and glamorous smiles. We had so much fun!

The girls going to have a farewell with Ai Chee next weekend but I won't be going though. I had back pain from travelling. It gave me hard times at home with the pain everytime I try to move.

I was back here this afternoon with backache, cough almost my lungs out and tiredness times infinity. All due to the long journey of travel, abundent house chores to take care of, spring cleaning, shopped for new year clothes for my baby sisters and visited my grandmother. Full long weekend, not a vacation though.

Christmas games & snacks 2008

A traditional christmas party in SD. It happens every year and this year was on last Thursday. We have many new faces this time and I can see a large transition of the people coming in and out from the team.

The hamper of snacks which were won from teambuilding were there in our party. Everyone was all geared up for games. We played the custom games like blanket game and bottle game. Then the addition was the card game, Pictorial brought by Julian. We had all the punishment written down on a paper by our own member and all grouped into a plastic bag. The punishment is used on the person who lose in blanket/bottle game later.

The rounds of games were really funny. We had some video clips from Wee Meng's camera, which maybe we can win the next Funniest Video competition from PDC annual dinner.

We had gift exchange among ourselves too. I got a panda toothbrush holder from Yoke Sun. The gift that cracked me up is the toilet seat from Wee Han which Julian got! Everyone looked gleeful, maybe because of the games overdosed! Weeliem caught me smiled stupidly alone because whenever I recall the punishment session, my lips just widen.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

My 3rd PDC Annual Dinner

Over the years I work in this place, this was the third time I attended their annual dinner. This year, PDC annual dinner was held in Trader's Hotel. My personal opinion, the hall was not suitable for occasion for these number of people. There were too many poles and bars blocking the tables from half the hall to the back. However, this is the one of two places that can hold our large number of attendants. However I like the event afterall because the organizing committee has put their best to the night.

The venue was decorated to suit the Hollywood Night theme, with the golden grammy award statue on the stage and Pitt's couple at the entrace for people to camwhoring with.

Photos of me with the man :D Beautiful moments again.

I did not sit with my team during the night but I tried to find them for some photo shootings. I missed photos with Soek Junn, Amy, Shi Ming and many more because I did not know where they were sitting. Everyone looked gorgeous! Like Jonathan said, he was not aware that PDC has so many pretty girls until that night!

Some pretty shots with the yummy girls of the night. Yes, and with guys who set their hair for this event. Cannas and Alan were performing, they did a great job!

These photos were taken somewhere else than in the hall itself, except for the photo with Lee Yee. I accidently grouped it to this piece of photos.. The others were taken in restroom, entrance and the hotel lobby.. It was an awesome night, where every engineer was one time like a celebrity. Hehe.

Ashley farewell with patgua friends..

They say friends stay forever. Ashley is leaving our work place soon. So we had a little gathering for her on one rainy evening at one of the steamboat shop in town called Goh Huat Seng. The special thing about their steamboat is they use charcoal instead of gas to boil the soup. Simply divine!

Q4 '08 team building

On last Monday we went to Relau Metropolitan park for our team quartely team building. We had hiking, voluntering work, kayaking, paint-balling and movie before. This is the first time we had such physically and mentally challenged activites.

A little warm up before the activities planned ahead.

All geared up for the amazing race type of game. This is my group, Ronda the Panda.

We had lotsa fun in all the station games with the funny questions and puzzles prepared for us. I had been tricked in the "not a game" game which the coordinator at first asked us to tie as many knots as possible in a period of time given a string. I tied like eight knots but after the time ended, she asked us to untie and leave three or zero knot for 5 and 10 marks. I got 0 because I had eight knots!

Fast forward, we were the first to reach the final station.

After lunch we still have some mini games and challenges.
