loh bak

This is what I made tonight: loh bak (and stir fry vege which is too normal to be mentioned here :P)

My friends are so super fab! Her Hau made Kim Gary curry chicken, Sim made his mat tong tong salted egg /pumpkin rice, Cannas fried namyu chicken!, Alan's wife (Smin) cooked asam laksa!!!

hehe. TM and Xping brought fruits and Cath with her boy took the liberty to buy us drinks because they are from mainland and it is not convenient for them to go back just to cook as they had some activities in the morning which I didn't join.

We had a movie session afterward. I like the way they squeezed into my living room laying againts each other watching "The Day After Tomorrow". But not Smin because I think she didnt feel comfortable sitting on the floor. Anyway, I was happy and I hope they did too. I didn't have a photo of them in my house because my camera is with WL now which I hope he utilizes it to snap some tulip photos for me.

I forgot where I copied the recipe from so if anyone found it someone, please help to quote me. I don't want to be blame stealing other people recipe. hehe. I had hard time finding water chestnut in the market because I don't know what it is called in Chinese! Anyway lucky that I recalled it is called "ma-thi" later. Also, I almost bought the wrong bean curd because I thought bean curd is "tau-ki"

Ingredients:
400g pork
4 water chestnut
diced 1/2 bombay onion
diced 1 tbsp chopped spring onion
1 small egg
1 large piece bean curd sheet, cut into 14x7cm each piece
* Cut bean curd into smaller pieces

Seasoning:
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp five spice powder
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp corn flour or sweet potato flour

* Marinate meat for several hours

Method:
1. Cut pork into thin strips
2. Combine meat, water chestnut, onion, seasoning and egg into a mixing bowl. Mix well. Add spring onion to mixture. Marinate meat for several hours in fridge.
3. Put 1-2 tbsp marinated mixture onto each bean curd skin piece. Form into a long roll. Roll up tightly and twist on both the ends.
* After steaming

4. Steam rolls for 8 minutes. Remove, cool and then deep fry in hot oil until golden and crispy.
5. Cut into slices and serve with dipping sauce.

Reminder: Do not wrap too big roll as it would be difficult to fry it.

Looking forward and expecting

I drove around bayan baru, sungai ara and bayan lepas area today trying to look for florist. I am in despair when I could not find any. Only I realised I don't know the existance of florist in this area except for that Kg Jawa which Leo and Xwei ordered their wedding flowers. I went over there but too frightened to enter because it looks like a house. It took me huge effort to drive in and and out because that's the end of road. I had to reverse and forward a number of time to get out from the place. Feeling hopeless that I could not realise my dream last night to have fresh flowers in the Ikea vase that Xwei gave to me as present on my dining table tonight, I totally blank myself and tried to concentrate on other stuff.

I have ugly recipe notes which I jotted down in an old diary but I treasure it very much :D

I flipped through my recipe notes last night and decided to make something special for the first time tonight and I really looking forward to it. I'll reveal the food and recipe after tonight :D (provided if I succeed). I am expecting some good friends in my home today. Everybody going to bring FOOD! I am basically skipping in my home from one end to another because of this excitment. Sweeping floor is as fun as eating tab tim grob in Bukit Genting. I woke up at 7am because I want to utilize my time efficiently today as I have beauty regime to work on today too other than the trip to market. Love. Today. And Friends.

2nd crochet project

I completed my second crochet project tonight. It's aim is to cover the arm chair because Weeliem insists to have something to cover it up as it will leave black colour stain on the wall if we push the chair towards the wall (accidently). I was pretty slow in the beginning but I made half of the whole thing this week. Overall I took about 3 weeks. The crochet pattern I used is self-invent. I am not sure what is the pattern being called. The first 10 rows are created from 3 different patterns and everything after 10th rows are constructed from the another pattern.

It is not really something to be proud of unless the previous cover looks like this. Not my idea.

This makes me better

You know why I love home made sandwich? BECAUSE I CAN HAVE THIS! See the egg? I love it so much especially when the yolk ozzing out on each bite. dropping here and there where I will use my finger and dab the juice and put into my mouth to savour the sweetness.

Crime in action = bacon + egg + tomatoe + mayonese + marjerine + toast bread.

PHOTOLOG #33: 20100403

I have been too long (or not) in the company that I had been assigned as a buddy to a few new hires. Upon the leaving of xwei for study, suet yin joined and eventually suck up xwei's cubicle :P. Now I have frequent flavoured tea to enjoy. I guess, it is not too bad at all.
