Craved for rendang chicken

The first rendang chicken I made was April last year and the second was about mid year 2007. It has been a year since my last attempt to make rendang chicken by myself. This is the third time. I craved for rendang chicken on Saturday when I was in the morning market trying to search for raw ingredients. Just that my brain told myself that I have a packet of shallots at home enough to make this dish. So I continued searching for the remaining ingredients I need.

Weeliem helped me in frying coconut grates and blending the shallots, lemon grass and ginger. I did the rest. The only time I did different this time is I put less coconut milk and the result is the colour was redder and hotter.

Birthday seafood 2008

Instead of me offering to treat him a five course meal plus spa package, he requested for a total different package. A seafood dinner by the seaside, non air-conditioned. Probably the non air-conditioned sort of bring down the dinner cost but it wasn't that cheap either. :P

We had a drizzling night where the morning was a hot sunny weekend day. The dinner was like half and one kilogramme of each giant prawns and crabs, plus another plate of clam thingy and fresh coconut drinks. We had a great night and I had a pair of swollen lips from the seafood dinner. Birthday treat.

PDC Day 2008

Today is PDC Day, sort of like family day for our department employees. Everyone is allowed to bring their immediate family members or significant half.

There were many activities and booths setup for both young and adults indoor and outdoor. I did this tatoo thing on my left arm and it is still visible now. I want to keep it for today because today is a special day!

They had wii games in one corner of cafetaria where some members of family or employees sweated over swinging, boxing, hula hooping and tennis game. See the thrilling motion of hula hooping.. :D

I queued up for the manicure which turns up a disaster. The lady was not handy with nail polishing because she kept on brushing the applied nail with her finger when applying the one next to it. Plus it took her like 20 minutes just to apply 10 finger nails with one coat of colour nail polish, stick the flower stickers to 10 nails and another coat of clear polish. After all, it is free of charge so no more complains.

The day was so hot that the direct sun exposure can burn your skin if you were exposed under the sun for more than 15minutes. Kidding. But is true, it was burning.

By that time it was already almost 11.30am and our stomaches were growling hungrily for food. We went out straight to the food stalls and grabbed some favourites like hotdogs, asam laksa, fried chicken wings, ais kacang, fruits and cold drinks.

After filling up our appetite, we proceed to the games stalls at another corner of the carpark! With all the games coupons in hand we tried all the games which were pretty easy. This is Weeliem trying to aim for the tic-tac-toss game. He did not win but I did! Woo hoo.. We came home after finishing all the coupons with full stomaches, smilling faces, happy thoughts and goodies we won from the game stalls.

Golden gift from the special lady

This is the dress that herhau gave me for my birthday. Love the plainness of the gold colour and the above knee length flavour. It is not too exaggerating with no intention of over-dressing in an evening restaurant wedding banquet. We had a fun night with familiar faces from university in ET & BK Ipoh wedding reception.

Treats to both of us

Song playing now is Itu Kamu Estranged.

A small treat to myself to a complete daily skin care regime. I have to dedicately commited to the ritual now.

On another side, it is a bigger treat to weeliem. Now he is compulsively addicted to his all time favourite which isn't me.

Luckily I wasn't cooked

Today as usual I cleaned my fan. I was rubbing and scrubbing off the dirt from the gaps on the plastic cover using a damp cloth. Suddenly there was a small spark on the bundle of cuprum wires and the light went off. The main power tripped. Everything was dark for a moment and things gone back to normal after my housemate switched on the main power again. I was still stunned. I began to rub again and my housemate ran up and asked if I am alright.

He thought I was cooked.

SPM begins today

SPM begins today.

I feel a little nostalgic when thought about the days at home when I was going through the almost one month length exam period. Anyhow, I got thru with kinda flying colours. Thanks to my mom for preparing delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner for me along the years I was a student staying back home.

Now it is my youngest sister time to battle with her first step to adulthood. For me I think SPM is the door that will show you to success. It determines whether you are qualified for a school or any application of financial assistance.

Good luck to you baby sis.

When bad is good for me

Another exciting day ever, I think I am at the top of the world despite I have not get my drawer opened by locksmith in office. I lost my cabinet's key approximately 2 months ago and still after several alarms and requests, no one come to rescue. All because of the goverment style of process, causing the delay. All types of approvals you see. The good thing is I have not forgotten my cellphone and left in office after work since then. :D

The bad thing is the steamed egg I made still did not have smooth surface on it's top. The good thing that happened today is I made the best steamed egg I ever did. Okay, my mom made the best steamed egg and I could never beat her because my rented place doesn't have an excellent stove. I could not finely control the heat therefore the steamed egg always come out with bubbles on top of it. But today I think I did it pretty well that I can slurp the egg directly into my stomach because the texture was too smooth and soft.

I was awaiting rain to come because I saw many large cotton clouds in the afernoon. It was so hot in the afternoon that I almost faint. That is the bad thing. But that is also the good thing that happened today as I get to nap because I had headache. Not alike normaly weekends, I could not fall asleep as I get to think a lot of the "pak cheng" soup that I am boiling downstairs and the clothes I have to keep from out-hanging and iron later on. Thanks that I bought the slow cooker and now I can safely nap without worrying so much.

The bad thing is my ankle starting to hurt again after yesterday of the twisted ankle I got during the fall in front of rio casino in Macau. But the good thing is I know why it happened again. I felt the pain after my friend's wedding and yesterday, because I wore high heels. Right after the wedding, I went to massage my leg and it healed with swollen still on. So now I know I should not wear heels until it is completely healed.

The bad thing is tomorrow is Monday! I am thinking of why it is good to be Monday and I come out with one nerdy excuse that is I can stay in air-conditioned room all day long.

ET's wedding last Saturday

Last weekend another friend got married. Heartiest conglatulation to the newly wed BK and ET. I do not have the photo of the couple in my camera so I am posting what I have now. We have 6 girls and 4 guys in jimui's team. Yes, you heard me right, 4 guys!

I can't see any heng dai except two because the rest were holding cameras. Next round, we have to ban any heng dai from squatting down or rolling on the floor to take photos because they can't do pumping when they are hugging their photography asset. Kek si.. :p

The bride looks stunningly beautiful like an elegant swan in her white silky wedding gown.

The wedding event somehow served as a reason for the coursemate to gather again. The photo only shows those that stayed for the wedding ceremony on Saturday, and Chew Ean was the bride's maid

A pair of shinning earrings from the girls

I found this pair of earrings in a small packet on my desk when I was back from lunch. It was a surprised gift from Xwei, Lan Sin and Soek Junn for my belated birthday! I love this pair a lot, just like how I love the eye shadow Xwei given me last year... Thank you girls!

Blue sky in Macau

The trip to Hong Kong and Macau would not be complete if we don't visit ruins of St.Paul's church. Macau is a beautiful place to capture memorable photos with nice buildings as background and the US blue sky.

There are many churches in Macau and the below is one of them, St. Dominic's church, I think. So coincidently, there was 2 bells hanging at the entrance of the church. Maybe a couple just came out from the church after their wedding ceremony before we reached there.

The scenery was pretty good and it was a bright day for walking around, but with shades and sun lotion on.

We took some girlish photos at Senado Square where passerby looking enviously.

An old bulding written MCMXXXI. It is1931 in roman numerals.

I was with friends boarding a taxi to Sand hotel. Taxi is cheap compared to Hong Kong. A ride from our hostel in Mongkok to the airport costs >HKD100. Haha. But taking taxi in Malaysia as expensive as in Hong Kong. The taxi fee from Klang to KLIA is freaking RM70!!

Opposite Sand, there is the Fisherman wharf place. They have some miniature buildings and architectures.

I walked from the Roman Colosseum to Greek meeting Alexander the Great.

This is us posing in front of Aladdin's castle in arabian city.

Five minutes walk took us to China. I think this is the Forbidden City :P

It was a great trip because we got to visit so many countries by just going Macau.

My early birthday celebration

About 2 weeks ago, some friends had a early birthday celebration for the October babies, Vivien and me. It was a steamboat dinner at Kim's. Choices of food was a lot and the place was full as usual.

The group of people that came was fun and bubbly.
This is Vivien and I cutting the first and only birthday cake of the year. When the cake was brought out, the owner of the shop played oldies birthday song.. We felt so embarassed and happy. Smiles craved.

I received a pretty, gold dress from Her Hau and I am loving it. I wore it to EeTieng's wedding dinner. Thanks for the wishes from friends..
