DIY pin cushion

I have some left over small pieces of fabric and I am in need of a pin cushion. It was very inconvenient to keep the pins in plastic bag and keep pulling out one when I need to use and put back into the plastic bag everytime to avoid losing them and fall off somewhere where I accidently sit or step on them later on.

I came across a super simple design of pin cushion sometime ago.

If Hong, you are reading this, maybe you are wondering what I was going to do when I pulled out the filling from the old mashimaro at home and brought them back with me?

Here it is the pictures one 2 different sides of the cushion

It is not the most beautiful pin cushion but is enough for my usage.

Crochet baby booties

Initially I purchased the yarn to make side table cloth but when I searched around, I saw a quite easy crochet baby booties instruction.

I just followed through the whole 4 part of instructions in youtube and made this pair. I did one side before my finger infect became worst and the other side last night. What do you think?

Baby blanket

This is the project I have been working on for the past 3 weeks and I completed it today. My ring finger swollen so badly that it hurts all the times now. I suspected it's caused by fabric cutting using the metal scissors. I can't sleep last night due to the pain. I know it sounded a bit exaggerate but it's true.

This picture was taken when I was half way doing the hexagon stitching , hand sewn.

The size of this blanket is approximately 36X40. It can last until baby is around 4-5 years old. :D Other than the top piece, the rest of it were sewed using sewing machine but I used invisible stitch (hand) to close up the hole that left to turn the fabric to it's right side after sewing the pieces together.

This is the back of the blanket. I actually sewed a layer of thick flannel in sandwiched between the top and backing. It is weird to get a batting here in Malaysia since the weather is not as cooling so I just inserted a flannel it there. I washed the flannel before sewing to reduce the possiblity it will shrink after washing.

Jimui's gear

Yesterday was our wedding day. It was indeed a good day because there were full 10 couples in the bridal house for makeup service for wedding dinner at the very day. Let me introduced another DIY thing I did.

I made sash and hand corsage for my jimuis during my wedding morning session. For the hengdai, I just made a chest corsage. I bought RM8 satin cloths back in Klang and sewed 11 sashes out of it

This photo of the product was taken by my uncle, Sean. He was taking photos all the time and he is a good photographer apart from Trinity, my official photographers for the day

The photo of my 11 jimuis wearing the sash and hand corsage. They were so creative with the sash. One made it into a rose and pin it to the chest like a brooch. One used it as hair band and some as the original purpose, a sash.

Coffee date dress

At last I completed the sewing project, a coffee date dress. Pattern from http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/coffee-date-dress-multisize-sample

It isn't a great success because I resew many of the parts many times due to my underskill pattern cutting. Anyway, I am proud of making my first dress.

Here it is:

2nd crochet project

I completed my second crochet project tonight. It's aim is to cover the arm chair because Weeliem insists to have something to cover it up as it will leave black colour stain on the wall if we push the chair towards the wall (accidently). I was pretty slow in the beginning but I made half of the whole thing this week. Overall I took about 3 weeks. The crochet pattern I used is self-invent. I am not sure what is the pattern being called. The first 10 rows are created from 3 different patterns and everything after 10th rows are constructed from the another pattern.

It is not really something to be proud of unless the previous cover looks like this. Not my idea.

Crochet beret turned into crochet beanie hat

I don't know if this should be called failure project. I was trying to make a beret but the yarn and needle that I have doesn't make the size of a beret and I turned it into a beanie hat instead.

The plus side is I beautified it. I made a crochet flower put it on the beanie hat.

The colour of the hat is another thing. Earlier I thought of using the "turquoise" blue yarn but end up I didn't have enough of it. So I continued the other half using another soft shade of blue.

At last I completed my first project.. I kinda like my first crochet product!

DIY: Alteration

I bought this MNG pants with my room-mate before Chinese New Year 2007. I couldn't wear it because the pants is too LONG.

After the measuring, I decided to alter it by 2 inches. Due to my lazyness to find a tailor, I altered the pants myself today after 6 months hanging it in my wardrobe.

All I need is a needle and BLACK thread.

and recall the sewing method back in Kemahiran Hidup class in Form 1. It is called "silang pangkah"...
Voila!!! Done. I can wear it to work tomorrow.
