Bukit Genting at dusk

Today's dinner we decided to go somewhere special, somewhere that is within the island, somewhere that has a nice view, somewhere with delicious food. This place is called the Bukit Genting. Her Hau told me I have to turn right at somewhere at the road at balik pulau to get into the place and I can recognise the turn by spotting "bunga manggar" at it's kaki bukit. It is a hill top restaurant which serves Thai cuisine and with panoramic view of the other side of Penang, a place where less people or less cars will go to. The road leads to the restaurant is steep and narrow, so one has to be careful driving up the hill. When you travel down later, you have to more extra careful as it is even steeper...

Paddy fields laid across acres of land belonging to the God down there. I can tell you it is quite a marvelous view from the hill top.

We sat on a big table although there were only four of us but we occupied only the four seats facing the magnificent view. The time when we reached there, it is about seven o'clock already. So we had a very short period before the sky darken... we tried to capture as many photos as possible and end up getting these:

The ending dishes is a dessert goes by a name tab-tim-grob. This is s dessert with crunchy water chesnut coated with tapioca flour in coconut milk served with ice and not forgetting slices of jack fruit.

sis 1: jack fruit is nangka right?

me: yes, nangka

sis 2: then this is not cempedak?

me: nola, jackfruit is nangka. cempedak is another type of fruits very similar to nangka

sis 2: nangka is nangka, cempedak is nangka that is fried.

me : huh???!!! who told you that? nangka that is fried, we called it nangka goreng..

sis 2: ya ah?? somebody told me that cempedak is a nangka that has been fried. Those that you bought at the malay stall.
